The percussion instruments are clasified
into two groups, according to the way they produce the sound
Los instrumentos de percusión se clasifican en dos grupos, según la forma en que producen el sonido
- Idiophones are instruments that produce the sound by the vibration of their own body. They can be
played in many ways: the claves or the cymbals sound by making their two parts collide with each other; the marimba, the temple block, the woodblock and the
gong (from Asia), with a stick; the maracas or the bells, shaking them; the güiro
scraping with a stick; etc.
- Idiófonos. Producen el sonido por la vibración de su propio cuerpo. Pueden tocarse de maneras muy diferentes: las claves o los platillos se chocan uno contra otro; la marimba, los temple blocks, la caja china y el gong (de Asia), con unas baquetas o mazo; las maracas y los cascabeles, se agitan; el güiro, se raspa con un palo; etc.
- Membranophones produce
the sound thanks to the vibration of a membrane made of skin
or synthetic. Many membranophones, such as the snare drum, the hand drum, the kettledrum
and the bass drum, vibrate when their membrane is hit with a stick, and
others, when they are struck with their hands.
- Membranófonos. Suenan gracias a la vibración de una membrana, que puede estar hecha de piel o ser sintética. Algunos, como la caja, el pandero, el timbal o el bombo, se golpean con baquetas y otros con las manos.
