Vocal ensembles (agrupaciones vocales)

A soloist is a singer who sings alone o has a prominent role in a group.

Un solista es un cantante que canta solo o con un papel destacado dentro de un grupo.

A duet, if there are two singers; a trio if there are three; a quartet if there are four; a quintet if there are five, etc.

Un dúo, si hay dos cantantes; un trío, si hay tres; un cuarteto, si hay cuatro; un quinteto, si hay cinco, etc.

A chamber choir if there is a small group of singers, and a chorus if there is a large group of singers.

Un coro de cámara si hay un pequeño grupo de cantantes, y un coro, si hay un grupo grande de cantantes.

String instruments (Instrumentos de cuerda)

We classify string instruments by how we play their strings. 

On plucked string instruments, like the guitar or the harp , we pluck the strings with our fingers.

En los instrumentos de cuerda pulsada, como la guitarra o el arpa, pulsamos las cuerdas con los dedos

On bowed string instruments, like the violin, the viola, the cello or the double bass, we rub the strings with a bow.

En los instrumentos de cuerda frotada, como el violín, la viola, el violonchelo o el contrabajo, frotamos las cuerdas con un arco.

On struck string instruments, like the piano, we press the keys in the keyboard  and a hammer strikes the strings.

En los instrumentos de cuerda percutida, como el piano, presionamos las teclas en el teclado y un martillo golpea las cuerdas.
